Congress' manifesto is people's 'Mann Ki Baat': Rahul Gandhi

"A formal complaint has been submitted.to inquire into entire matter including the possibility of foul play which led to technical slag, failure of autopilot and failure of rudders, which is completely unprecedented", Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said.

The aircraft reportedly had made a rough landing at Hubballi airport on Thursday.

India's main opposition Congress party on Thursday demanded a probe into what it called "suspicious and faulty" performance of a chartered plane that was flying party leader Rahul Gandhi to southern India.

"It is a very serious incident for us, but only time will tell if the complaint is taken seriously by the government as well", he told PTI. Currently, the state capital Bengaluru alone, which is home to over 750 multinationals and 2,000 IT firms, contributes about 40 per cent of the total IT exports done by the country.

As part of the probe, the official said the panel would call cockpit crew and also engineers for questioning about the incident.

"We are committed to address the urban housing challenge and propose to build 15 lakh houses (3 lakh houses per year) for the people of the state", it said.

A senior DGCA official yesterday confirmed that the aircraft had suffered a "technical snag". "It was snag of autopilot mode and pilot shifted to manual mode and landed safely", said DGCA chief BS Bhullar.

"The DGCA always examines in detail such cases involving any VIP, and we will do that in this case too", he added.

There is also outrage over rising incidents of rape and women security, he said.

Gandhi described the manifesto as the "voice of the people of Karnataka" and not a document prepared by "three or four people in a closed room".

"At around 10.45 am, the aircraft suddenly tilted heavily on the left side and the altitude dipped steeply, combined with violent shuddering of the aircraft body".

Congress spokesperson Brijesh Kalappa however denied the charges.

He added that an aircraft carrying a Special Protection Group (SPG) protectee developing such a snag was unprecedented.
