Tight transfer budget predicted for Conte successor at Chelsea

Antonio Conte believes Gary Cahill should be named in England's World Cup squad despite dropping the defender for Chelsea earlier this season.

Suspension and a dip in form followed which culminated in Cahill being dropped in favour emerging young talent Andreas Christensen, whom Conte would go on to describe as Chelsea's present, future and a potential captain of the club.

The French side appointed former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo in November and is ready to bolster the 2016-17 league champions with a number of Blues' stars.

Chelsea have struggled to put up a good defence of their Premier League title this term and are in danger of missing out on Champions League football next season with four games left in the league campaign.

Speaking to reporters at Cobham on Friday, Conte said of the defender: "I don't know, I don't know".

Conte's greatest gripe with the Blues hierarchy is his lack of energy relating to the membership's switch enterprise; Chelsea failing to pursue quite a few his most well-liked choices throughout his reign on the membership. He has played big competitions.

"I think Cahill developed a lot this year, but we have three or four players who take responsibility, who try to lead the team". He may be in the twilight of his career at the Bridge and indeed on the global stage, but his experience and the motivation for one last hurrah for club and country could make him a serious asset to Conte as he bids to salvage something memorable from Chelsea's otherwise disappointing season. "He has to make the best choices for the national team and I'm sure he'll make the right decision".
