Author Neil Gaiman announces second season of American Gods via Twitter

Video streaming platform Amazon Prime Video has given the go-ahead for the second season of its original series "American Gods".

Production on the eight-episode second season has started and the new season will finally feature the aforementioned quintessential location in Neil Gaiman's novel.

Lastly, the video concludes with the announcement that American Gods will return to Starz sometime in 2019. Production started on season 2 last week in Wisconsin and today we have your first look at the cast (plus Gaiman and producer Jesse Alexander) in front of The House of the Rock.

In addition to the Starz video, Neil Gaiman also shared an image from the set of himself and the cast at the House on the Rock. World, Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare (Fargo) as Czernobog, Mousa Kraish (Fast & Furious) as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi (Argo) as Salim, Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman) as Anubis, and Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) as Mr. Ibis.

American Gods is still a very important series for Starz just because it continues their association with a popular author and beyond that, features an exciting, dramatic story that is really different from something that you are seeing virtually anywhere else. The plot posits a war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of mythological roots from around the world steadily losing believers to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society's modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.

Based on the best-selling book of the same, American Gods sees ex-con Shadow Moon alongside Mr. Wednesday played by Ian McShane (Deadwood) and Shadow's Wife, Laura Moon, played by Emily Browning (Sucker Punch).
