Shooting at Nashville's Opry Mills Mall leaves 1 person in critical condition

As reported, the law enforcement officers conducted the evacuation of visitors from the area of the Mall reserved for public catering enterprises.

Metro Police said the suspect in a shooting inside Opry Mills Mall on Thursday afternoon will be charged with criminal homicide. Churchwell was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he died of his injuries. The suspected gunman, also 22, ran from the mall to a ticketing booth outside, placed his gun on the counter and told the people inside to call 911, the station reports.

The suspect, identified by police as Justin Golson, 22, of Antioch, was taken into custody soon after police arrived at the scene.

The shooting created temporary chaos inside the mall, one of the biggest in the state. At least half a dozen ambulances converged on the scene.

The adult female was flown to Skyline Medical Center in critical condition.

Officers had been sweeping throughout the shopping mall to produce sure, although Metro Nashville Police mentioned in a tweet Thursday there was no additional threat.

Authorities said the mall was evacuated and the adjacent Grand Ole Opry House and convention center were put on lockdown, according to The Associated Press. Chapple, a shift chief on the restaurant, says staff ran exterior by way of a rear exit.

Police said two or three people were involved in a physical dispute.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said several of its troopers happened to be in a parking lot at the mall performing motorcycle training.
