"Avengers: Infinity War" Continues to Dominate

If Infinity War makes all its money upfront quick and fast, perhaps the film won't be able to dethrone Star Wars' monumental all-time domestic haul of $936.6 million. Star Wars: "The Force Awakens holds the prize for biggest second weekend, with a mighty $149 million in 2015".

Infinity War has now raked in a massive $1.16 billion at the global box office, breaking the record for Imax 4DX cinemas, which offers film fans motion seats. The scene doesn't appear in Avengers: Infinity War at all, but it is especially misleading since it includes the Avengers' green goliath, the Hulk, who only appears briefly and early on in the film.

Recall that this is not the first record in "the Avengers".

The film's continued success reinforces the dominance of both Disney and Marvel studios in Hollywood.

In just 11 days of release, the film has already made more than the overall totals of other comic book hits like "Wonder Woman", "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", "Guardians of the Galaxy", "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Justice League". Internationally, the film earned an estimated $162.6 million this weekend, making for a current foreign total of $713.3 million. The film stars Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez as unlikely lovers, and was produced by MGM and Pantelion Films, a Lionsgate-backed production company aimed at Latino audiences. Opening in a similar amount of theaters, meanwhile, Tully only managed to hit No. 7, which isn't as bad as Young Adult but only proves that Charlize Theron, sadly, isn't a box office draw.

In second place - and trailing by US$98 million - was Overboard, a gender-swapped remake of the 1987 romantic comedy with the same title.

"Rampage", $4.6 million ($13.7 million international).
