SpaceX Effectively launches rocket one day after failed Endeavor

Musk is so confident in the company's upgraded Falcon 9 that he's predicting that by 2019 SpaceX will be able to land a Falcon 9 booster after a launch and then launch it again 24 hours later. The next attempt is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 11, at 4:14 PM EST. This marks the 25th time one of SpaceX's used rockets has been recovered.

The Falcon 9 Block 5, as the new version is called, is poised for launch at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Another first for the launch was its Bangabandhu Satellite-1 payload, which is Bangladesh's first geosynchronous communications satellite. You can watch the entire thing in SpaceX's video below. Previous ones included Turkmenistan's TurkmenAlem satellite in April 2015 and Bulgaria's Bulgariasat-1 in June 2017.

The Block 5 variation of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket will be the last major upgrade the company's workhorse rocket. In the process, they have carried thousands of pounds of cargo. The new Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket landed in space for the first time.

The company stated that the Block 5 model "is created to be capable of 10 or more refurbishments, and is very limited", which will help shorten the time between successive launches, which the company has been doing for some time.

With its debut complete, SpaceX's first Block 5 booster will now head back to Port Canaveral after being safely secured by everyone's favorite rocket-grabbing robot.

In addition, the new booster features a suite of reliability upgrades created to satisfy NASA's stringent crew-carrying standards, because SpaceX will use the Block 5 - as well as the company's Dragon capsule- to ferry astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).

We'd be remiss if we didn't note there's always the possibility of last-minute delays. There is an 80 percent probability of acceptable weather conditions.

That doesn't tell us much, but it's enough to know that whatever caused the launch abort wasn't serious enough for the entire mission to be delayed. Our fingers are firmly crossed for some exciting updates later today!
