Neymar returns to training, Brazil guarantees he's ready

Neymar resumed training with Brazil at their World Cup base in Sochi, Russia, one day after leaving the session early with what was said to be pain in his right ankle.

Brazilian star striker Neymar had a bit of a rough outing as he struggled to keep his feet on the ground for long due to Switzerland sides defending tackles.

Neymar was making his first competitive appearance since February, having missed the latter stages of Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 title-winning campaign because of a fractured foot, and urged referees to protect him from consistent fouling.

But after around 10 minutes he limped away with a member of staff to receive some treatment after looking clearly uncomfortable on the field.

Brazil's squad will be considered failures should they not claim their sixth World Cup title in Russian Federation, according to the legendary Rivaldo.

Neymar, 25, had already sat out Monday's light training, before being forced off on Tuesday and unable to complete the rest of the scheduled session. He felt some pain and went to the physiotherapy, and tomorrow he will train normally.

Brazil coach Tite says Neymar is not fully fit, but will play some role when the five-time champions open their World Cup account against Switzerland on Sunday.

Given the success of Switzerland's rugged approach, Neymar can expect more of the same against Costa Rica and Serbia with the pressure upped on Brazil to rediscover the form they showed in qualifying.

Brazil is hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2014 World Cup, as Neymar suffered another injury during practice Thursday.

"The game is decisive because of the draw in the first game", Tite said.

In a news conference on the eve of Sunday's match, Brazil coach Tite said Neymar is still not 100% fit as he recovers from surgery to fix a broken bone in his right foot.

That may be something to do with one of the game's more impressive statistics. When he plays for us, it's a huge help.
