Priest slaps crying baby during baptism

SHOCKING footage has emerged showing a priest's violent attempt to calm down a crying baby by slapping it during a baptism in France. He then attempts to console the child by grabbing the boy's face and urging him to "calm down, calm down".

The child's relatives still appear to be smiling as the priest brings the baby's head towards his, but the baby reacts badly and flails its right arm towards the woman. The baby is crying loudly and the priest appears to be trying to get the baby to stop crying.

The exact date of the incident are unclear, although the video surfaced on the internet on Wednesday.

In a 40-second clip that has gone viral, the French-speaking clergyman lashes out in frustration during the ceremony as the tiny child is held by a woman thought to be his mother.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that a Catholic priest, Reverend Father Lucien Ambunga, who was inflicted with the deadly Ebola virus, survived it.

"I'm going to put water on the forehead, and after I'll embrace the young fellow", one user quoted the priest as saying. "I will scream louder than you so calm down".

Eventually, the man standing behind her snatches the baby away from the priest.

According to People, a Reddit user who originally uploaded the footage said the priest was French. As a priest you are suppose to insure safety and peace but yet you slap my child!
