Serena sets up sister act 30 at US Open

The matchup that everyone in the tennis world treasures - except for the two women involved - will take place Friday in Flushing as Serena and Venus Williams face off in the third round of the U.S. Open after both won in straight sets Wednesday.

The "Today" show rereleased a 1991 video profile on the successful sisters Wednesday, in which an 11 year old Venus notes how she fell in the love with the sport. "I think the umpire was probably overwhelmed by the situation", said Cornet who insisted that French tennis federation (FFT) president Bernard Giudicelli's Roland Garros ban on Serena Williams's catsuit was much worse and genuinely worthy of being deemed "sexist". Serena is No. 26, playing in only the seventh tournament since she was off the tour for more than a year while having a baby. It was a win that will pit the Williams sisters against one another in the next round, as Serena will play Venus.

Since Venus won their first-ever clash in Australia, Serena, bidding for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title, has built up an advantage over the last two decades, enjoying a 17-12 head-to-head superiority.

"It's early in the tournament, so both of us are going to be looking forward to continuing to play better, " Venus said.

"If I would say my true feelings, it would be bleeped out, because it was ridiculous", said Azarenka.

Williams, 38, notched up her 775th career win by seeing off Italy's Camila Giorgi 6-4, 7-5 as temperatures again climbed towards a sweltering 35 degrees.

"As always we will come out and try our best". I mean, incredible really.

There's no dimming Serena Williams' shine on the court!

Defending champion Sloane Stephens avoided an early exit, recovering from a set down to defeat Ukrainian qualifier Anhelina Kalinina 4-6 7-5 6-2. Of course, I was surprised when I just changed T-shirt really quick and he gave me the code violation, I didn't expect it, and I told him it was pretty weird.

Top-seeded Rafael Nadal was in dominant form in his late-night match, winning 46 of 55 first-serve points to wear down Vasek Pospisil 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. So I think that's the toughest part for me.

"I was happy with a lot of things".
