Arsenal win five-goal thriller at Cardiff City

Arsenal have officially revealed their starting eleven and substitutes to lock horns with Neil Warnock's Cardiff City side this afternoon.

Alexandre Lacazette spared Arsenal's blushes as he marked his first start of the season by scoring a spectacular victor in Sunday's 3-2 win at Cardiff City Stadium.

Emery keeps faith with Petr Cech between the sticks, while in defence he picks Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi as the centre-back pairing.

Emery opted to start both Lacazette and Aubameyang against Cardiff and the decision paid dividends, with Lacazette providing an assist for his team-mate before scoring the victor. The same can be said of Aaron Ramsey, who faces his former club when he returns to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Lacazette scored the winning goal for Arsenal nine minutes from time.

Arsenal attempted to reassert their earlier authority after the break as Cardiff were penned back.

Chances continued to come at both ends, with Xhaka seeing his first-time strike deflected over by Arter on 56 minutes, while Ward curled an effort over from 16 yards out two minutes later after cutting inside from the right.

Here are five things we learnt from Arsenal's 3-2 victory against Cardiff City.

Having headed Granit Xhaka's corner in at the 11th minute, Mustafi ran towards his teammate, crossing his hands as a reference to Albania's double-headed eagle, which is present on the country's national flag - and the same celebration that earned Xhaka a fine during the World Cup. Showed he can deliver a corner when setting up Mustafi's goal but sadly set up Cardiff's too with a awful attempt at a cross-field pass.

There was more of the same in the second half as brilliance from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang restored the lead before another defensive aberration allowed Cardiff to draw level for a second time through Danny Ward.

"If we had players like Lacazette, we would have won the game today".

Gabon worldwide Pierre Aubameyang increased the scoreline for the Gunners in the 62nd minute and it was Lacazette that provided the assist.

And just three weeks into the new season, Wenger's replacement as Gunners manager has already discovered that getting the best out of Ozil could prove to be no easy task. As a result of that, he was deservedly given a start today by coach Unai Emery.

But it looks like he has still not impressed Emery enough to be a starter for Arsenal.
