Only Man City and Liverpool are challenging for title - Sarri

Chelsea gaffer Maurizio Sarri has admitted his team needs to do more defensively despite their 4-1 mauling of Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Ahead of Saturday's visit of Cardiff to Stamford Bridge, Sarri's side sit joint top of the Premier League with four wins from the Italian's first four games in charge.

"But now I am changing my mind as maybe now he is the best in Europe", he said to the BBC after earlier telling Sky that Hazard might take two years to reach that mark.

"At the moment, for me, in my opinion, Liverpool and Manchester City are better than us".

"I think Hazard can improve more", Sarri added.

Hazard has been in brilliant form so far this season, scoring five goals and making two assists in his first five appearances of the season in the top flight for Sarri's side. Hazard I think is just outside of that.

City and Chelsea await in Liverpool's next three league games and secured comfortable home victories to boost their own title chances. "I don't want to go there and not have a shot on target, but we've got to have players at their best abilities to give them a game".

Chelsea are the proud owners of a very impressive Premier League record following their 4-1 victory against Cardiff yesterday afternoon. I thought he was one of the best in Europe.

"If he wants to help us, I'm very, very happy".

Last season Egypt global Mohamed Salah and Englishman Harry Kane were the two players that scored more than 40 goals in England.

All of that seemed to make a hard start likely and Sarri is quite pleased his players have managed a blemish-free opening in the Premier League.

Sarri has decided on his permanent captain, but will tell his players his decision first, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and David Luiz all potential skippers. To close that gap in only one season is very hard.

"We have a lot of freedom on the pitch, and at the moment when we try and do something, it's coming off". "We knew they were very risky from set-pieces, with long balls, but we played much better towards the end of the first half, and in the final half hour".

"We need to improve, but we are able to and can do very quickly".
