Anita Hill Speaks Out On Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Brett Kavanaugh

She says that both assailants were "stumbling drunk" at the time, and that Kavanaugh himself pinned her to the bed and tried to take off her clothes. She claimed in the letter that Kavanaugh and a classmate of his, both of whom had been drinking, turned up music that was playing in the room to hide the sound of her protests, and that Kavanaugh covered her mouth with his hand.

Kavanaugh was with a friend, Mike Judge, when the incident occurred and Judge simply says Ford is "absolutely nuts".

Christine Ford told the Post she believed the incident happened in 1982, when she was 15 and he was 17.

The FBI confirmed it had received the letter but indicated it was not immediately pursuing the allegations.

The White House accused Feinstein, who revealed the existence of the letter late last week, of mounting an "11th hour attempt to delay his confirmation".

Ford, a clinical psychology professor at Palo Alto University, sent a letter describing the incident to Sen. "Instead, they said nothing during two joint phone calls with the nominee in August, four days of lengthy public hearings, a closed session for all committee members with the nominee where sensitive topics can be discussed and in more than 1,300 written questions".

"I never saw Brett act that way", Judge said. Feinstein said she referred the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and that the woman had requested confidentiality. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), specifically asked Kavanaugh about whether he had ever engaged in sexual misconduct ― although she limited her question to when he was a "legal adult", which would not have applied to the situation with Ford.

The White House also weighed in with a statement on Thursday. The therapist's notes, portions of which were provided by Ford and reviewed by The Washington Post, do not mention Kavanaugh's name but say she reported that she was attacked by students "from an elitist boys' school" who went on to become "highly respected and high-ranking members of society in Washington".

After the Post's article went up, Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee released a statement again questioning the timing of the accusations and why Sen.

Feinstein was preparing to lead Democratic questioning of Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Sunday the FBI should investigate Ford's allegations against Kavanaugh and that the probe should occur before the Senate proceeds with the judge's confirmation. "It is critical in matters of sexual misconduct to protect the identity of the victim when they wish to remain anonymous, and the senator did so in this case", the spokesman said.

She contacted the newspaper through a tip line in early July, when iKavanaugh was on President Donald Trump's shortlist of potential nominees to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy.

In agreeing to talk to the Washington Post, Ford is coming forward on her own terms.

Though it barely seemed possible, Democrats in Washington have hit a new low with their most-recent antics around Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In this regard, it's fair to note that Ford is a registered Democrat and a past contributor to some Democratic candidates. "Now I feel like my civic responsibility is outweighing my anguish and terror about retaliation". The call was already scheduled before the allegation emerged and Collins' office declined to provide any details about their discussion.
