Teenager Prithvi Shaw roars at Rajkot with Test century on debut

India resumed on 364 for four, helped by an historic debut Test hundred for 18-year-old opener Prithvi Shaw on the first day.

Ravindra Jadeja, who scored his maiden global century during India's only innings, took the final wicket of Shannon Gabriel for four as the hosts celebrated an utterly dominant win over the former cricketing powerhouse.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant fell eight runs short of his second Test century - he scored his first against England last month - but Ravindra Jadeja made a ton before the hosts declared on 649-9.

Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo finished with four wickets for 217 runs from 54 overs.

India's previous largest winning margin by an innings was against Test debutants Afghanistan in Bangalore in June, when Virat Kohli's side won by an innings and 262 runs. Allan Broder, Sourav Ganguly, Graeme Smith and Mahendra Singh Dhoni five each.

India made 143 runs in the afternoon session, scoring at close to 4.5 runs an over.

However, there was some early celebration for the Windies when Gabriel struck Rahul in front with the sixth ball of the match with just three runs on the board.

Kohli, who was 72 not out overnight, became the second fastest to 24 Test hundreds behind only Donald Bradman, who took 66 innings to Kohli's 123. He reached the milestone with a four off the second ball of the 107th over, bowled by Devendra Bishoo.

Every time Jadeja reaches the fifty-run mark, he does a special sword celebration.

Reviewing Windies below-par performance against the world number one ranked Indian team, Harbhajan took to social media question the visiting team's quality and said that Windies will feel the heat in India's premier domestic competition - Ranji Trophy.
