Kavanaugh Hears First Arguments as New US Supreme Court Justice

"Seriously, Hillary?" was the reaction of Republican Congressman Steve Scalise, who was seriously wounded a year ago when a shooter - who was a registered Democrat - targeted a Congressional Republican baseball practice in Virginia. "The president's remarks are ridiculous and an embarrassment".

Trump, who has called Democrats "an angry left-wing mob", then turned to the crowd for judgment, asking, "Did we leak?"

Seconds later, the president's supporters started the familiar "Lock her up!" chant.

"Since President Trump is unlikely to sign any legislation addressing Democratic priorities, that means that one of the main things you can expect outcome-wise from two years of Democratic House control is a long series of public inquisitions that might help uncover the truth about the president and his cronies".

Described by some GOP observers as a "crucifixion", Kavanaugh's treatment at the hands of Senators Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) and others has unified a previously fractured Republican Party.

Trump reminded his audience how Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, had been blamed for leaking professor Christine Blasey Ford's letter alleging she had been sexually assaulted by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Ford's allegations and the reported rise in sexual abuse claims come as the Trump administration is poised to release new Title IX policies concerning sexual misconduct on campus - policies that recognize the right of due process for those accused of sexual assault.

"You have to go back to 1880 to find the last time a Senate controlled by a party different from the president filled a vacancy on the Supreme Court that was created in the middle of a presidential election year", McConnell told "Fox News Sunday."
