Rihanna declined Super Bowl LIII halftime show in support of Kaepernick

As per Us Weekly, the Anti singer was allegedly offered to perform during the Super Bowl LIII halftime, but she declined the offer out of support for Colin Kaepernick.

Maroon 5, fronted by Adam Levine, was reportedly offered the job and accepted, though no formal announcement has been made. "CBS and the National Football League reached out to Rihanna first, who after thinking about the offer, chose to pass due to the National Football League and the situation regarding players kneeling". "She doesn't agree with the NFL's stance", the source told US Weekly.

Quarterback Kaepernick, 30, was the first player to kneel during the United States national anthem. It's since sparked a national discussion about patriotism and has drawn the ire of President Trump.

Kaepernick has remained a free agent since the end of the 2016 season.

Performing at The Super Bowl Halftime Show is a great honor and opportunity that few artists would say no to.

Rihanna is one of the world's most beloved musicians, but she's also a wildly successful entrepreneur, making Fortune's 40 Under 40 list this year for the first time.

Now Schumer has urged Maroon 5 to refuse to play the event on the same grounds.

According to Jezebel, a source told Entertainment Tonight, "Rihanna was the front-runner for next year's Super Bowl halftime show".

Super Bowl LIII will take place in Atlanta on February 3.

The comedian has said she wants more white players to join in Kaepernick's protest at perceived racially-motivated violence in the USA.
