Former England manager Glenn Hoddle seriously ill in hospital

Former England and Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle is "responding well" to treatment after being taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"Our friend and colleague Glenn Hoddle was taken seriously ill at the BT Sport studio this morning", the tweet read. Today's show has since been cancelled.

The former Spurs player and manager was at the studio to make an appearance on BT Sport Score, before being taken ill.

BT Sport has shed light on the news with a recent update, they said: "Glenn Hoddle is in hospital and receiving the very best possible treatment". Everyone of us is right with you Glenn, sending love & strength.

Hoddle formerly worked as a player and manager for Chelsea.

A spokesman for Hoddle said on Saturday evening: "Earlier today Glenn collapsed at the BT Sport studios". Get well soon, Glenn Hoddle, we're all behind you'. Thoughts are with him and his family.

Last night, a spokesman for Hoddle said: 'His condition is serious but Glenn is now receiving specialist treatment and responding well.

As a player, Hoddle won the FA Cup and Uefa Cup with Tottenham and also had spells with Monaco, Swindon and Chelsea.

Hoddle picked up 53 caps for his country during an illustrious career and went on to manage his country during the 1998 World Cup in France.

Hoddle has had a turbulent private life and split from his second wife, Vanessa, in 2015 after 15 years of marriage.

The Football Association, via the England team account, wrote: "Worrying news".

The couple got together in 1997 after he walked out on his first wife, Anne, the mother of his three children - Zoe, 35, Zara, 32, and Jamie, 26.

"His family are with him and would like to thank everyone for their support".
