Caravan Migrants Tell MSNBC, 'We Want To Go Home'

Sunday's melee closed one of the world's busiest worldwide crossings, San Ysidro Port of Entry, near San Diego, to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for several hours.

"In contrast to border apprehensions, where 95 per cent or more of immigrants are from Mexico and Central America, the vast majority of overstays - nearly 90 per cent - are from elsewhere", according to the study.

Democratic leaders - including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) - have said they would approve $1.6 billion for the wall, placing the two sides billions of dollars apart as the lame-duck session begins.

The move by the parent's association of the elementary school came after USA border agents fired tear gas into Mexico to turn back a group of migrants who had breached the border over the weekend.

These migrants are exhausted, restless and growing frustrated by the reality that it's proving much more hard to get across the border than they had anticipated.

Speaking to Hill.TV host Buck Sexton, Hastings said that Border Patrol officers agents were making 2,000 arrests a day, not including anyone traveling with the caravan. The incident prompted US Border Patrol agents to fire teargas into an unarmed crowd that included women and children, drawing condemnation from the administration's critics.

The Mexican Foreign Ministry asked the U.S. authorities to conduct a thorough investigation of the events in which non-lethal weapons were used from the United States towards Mexico.

The UN estimates that between 12,000 and 14,000 migrants have crossed the Guatemala-Mexico border, headed north to the US, since mid-October, including about 100 LGBT persons desiring to claim asylum.

The San Ysidro border post across from Tijuana - the busiest crossing on the US-Mexico border - was closed to traffic and pedestrians for several hours following the incident.

"They grab a child because they think they'll have a certain status by having a child".

A little after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, a large white truck pulled up to the Benito Juarez Sports Complex in Tijuana as 57 new migrants climb out to join the more than 6,000 being sheltered here near the San Ysidro U.S. -Mexico Port of Entry. They do not meet the qualifications to get asylum here.

Trump also told the news outlet that the suggested $5 billion would pay for the physical barrier alone, and that additional funding would be needed for other border security measures.

"I don't want them to stay", she says in Spanish, "because they're rebellious, they're people who've only come to create conflict". "We need to be there for him and make sure this gets signed", House Majority Whip Steve Scalise said after the meeting. She estimated about 20 people had already passed in front of her, and parents begged agents not to unleash the gas because there were young children present.

Most were dispirited after the US agents fired tear gas on the group of migrants trying to cross into the USA on Sunday. A person got hit and lots of kids fainted.

At the tent next door, 23-year-old Brandon Castillo of Santa Rosa, Guatemala chimed in that "they say it was the whole caravan, but it wasn't the whole caravan".

He had two fresh round bruises in his abdomen.

When asked what would help in securing the border, Hastings said, in light of Sunday's events, that infrastructure would have been useful.

With the share of Mexicans decreasing, Asians account for 22 percent of unauthorized immigrants who recently arrived in the United States, the report found.
