The Cavaliers Have Traded Kyle Korver To The Jazz

It was announced on Wednesday, initially by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowksi, that the Utah Jazz traded Alec Burks and a pair of second round picks to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for former Jazzman Kyle Korver.

Cleveland is not contending this season, so Korver deserved to be on a winning team.

Additionally, Wojnarowski reports that Utah will send two future second-round picks in the deal; one is a 2020 pick, while the other is a 2021 pick via the Wizards.

Watch FOX 13 for updates. That didn't end up happening before the season, but now, Korver will ultimately be able to play for a relevant team in the Jazz, instead of being on the rebuilding Cavs. In 2009-10, Korver set a single-season record by shooting a scorching 53.6 percent from deep in 52 games for the Jazz. However, I'm not sure anybody saw a change coming this quickly, yet here we are.

The Jazz have been a disappointment so far, and Korver fills the club's need for an outside shooter.

"I mean we're not a bad 3-point shooting team, I think guys are just missing shots", Jazz forward Derrick Favors said. "I think everybody was a little bit surprised". The acquisition of Burks, a quality 27-year-old role player who has averaged 9.6 points per game during his career, will aid in that process.

Kyle Korver was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in 2003. He played 50 games with the team that season, then two more seasons with the franchise. He's averaging 8.4 points and 1.6 rebounds on 37.2 percent shooting from 3 while Korver, 37, is shooting 46.3 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 6.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game this season.
