Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk seal Christmas top spot for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool need about 105 points haul to claim the Premier League silverware after the Reds emerged Christmas champions win Friday night win over Wolves at Molineux.

"Forty-eight points before Christmas, it's just insane, but there are other teams there as well". So we are not going to start planning the party for the summer now.

The hosts have taken points off Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United already this season, but they looked short of ideas in the second half and Liverpool nearly added a third when Patricio thwarted Salah from a tight angle before Mane nodded off target from the resulting corner. Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, will probably win, so then they have 40-something points, nobody is dropping points down to fifth or sixth.

"I didn't think before, and I don't think about it after".

Van Dijk once again put in a top class performance to help the team to yet another clean sheet - their eleventh in 18 Premier League games.

Asked whether Van Dijk is even better than Klopp thought he would be when he joined in January, the Liverpool manager said on Sky Sports: "Yeah, together with all the other boys around he is much better". We want to be compact but wide as well which makes it hard.

"Of course, we lost some points and it could be better for us at the moment but everybody knows in this league everybody can win against everybody".

Mohamed Salah scored one and created the second for Virgil van Dijk, who capped another imperious performance with his first Premier League goal for the club. We need to continue on that.

"We started the game well, chances for both teams. It's a big game for us, Fulham are a good side, they move the ball well so we have to be prepared as normal".

"The only thing that gives me something to think about is the way we conceded". A corner was cleared as far as Salah, who delivered a teasing cross from which Van Dijk stretched to turn the ball home.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool is now flying high in the Premier League as they sit at the summit of the English top division league with 45 points after 17 games.
