Netflix Reveals ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3 Release Date in Cryptic Trailer

The odd video announcement features a New Year's Eve countdown video from 1985, complete with VHS tape tracking lines, warped audio and what sounds like Mike yelling Eleven's name at one point.

Netflix dropped a poster for the new season on Twitter captioned: "One summer can change everything".

The minute-long New Year themed teaser features archival footage of Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve from 1984.

The third season of the supernatural series Stranger Things is scheduled to debut July 4 on Netflix.

By watching the aforementioned code, one can make out the following enigmatic message at the 14-second mark: "When blue and yellow meet in the west".

In a new teaser, the streaming network revealed that the 1980s-set series will officially return on July 4, 2019. Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Charlie Heaton, and Noah Schnapp will all be back for season three. The date was confirmed January 1 with an Independence Day-themed poster showing Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) holding hands with Mike (Finn Wolfhard) as other characters admire fireworks bursting in the distance. The poster shows Dustin, Max, and Lucas ogling at fireworks in the sky, while Mike stares at Eleven, who is distracted by something ominous and out of frame. The action in the upcoming third season won't take place during New Year's Eve, or Halloween for that matter.

After two years of occupying the Halloween scene, it looks like Stranger Things is ready to lay claim to another holiday season entirely.
