Congressional Dems ‘Exasperated’ With Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Don’t Attack Your Own People’

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has retaliated against fellow Democrat Joe Lieberman, who'd said he didn't see her as the future of the party. So it's no surprise the man who left the party to become an "independent" has thoughts on newly elected liberal Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Democratic leaders were also frustrated that Ocasio-Cortez criticized their new set of House rules on Twitter in the first week of the new Congress, Politico reported.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, has come under fire after it was revealed that her campaign was fined by the state for not providing workers' compensation coverage for a month past year.

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo.

Recently Ocasio-Cortez told Politico that she wasn't interested in backing progressive candidates against incumbent Democrats, insisting that she's "focused on my job".

Lieberman said Thursday that she's too "left-left" to help the Democratic Party be a sustainable political powerhouse.

Just kidding, she'll keep on plugging away on the exact social and environmental reforms she has been, which will ultimately do more to save us than Joe Lieberman ever did.

"There's a difference between being an activist and a lawmaker in Congress", the source said.

"I think she needs to give herself an opportunity to know her colleagues and to give herself a sense of the chemistry of the body before passing judgment on anyone or anything", Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) said. "But if you look at the majority of new Democrats in the House, they tend to be, I say, center-left, if they are not left-left". "She doesn't understand how the place works yet".

Through her staff, Ocasio-Cortez declined to comment to Politico. "The rents are very high and now the minimum wage is going up and we have a huge number of employees", Charles Milite told the New York Post last month.
