More Details From Nintendo On The Labo VR Kit For Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Labo: VR Kit - Expansion Set 2: Available at a suggested retail price of $19.99, Expansion Set 2 includes the Toy-Con Wind Pedal and Toy-Con Bird.

Experience a new dimension of Nintendo Labo with the launch of the Nintendo Labo: VR Kit for Nintendo Switch on 12 April, which combines the innovative physical and digital gameplay of Nintendo Labo with basic VR technology to create a simple and shareable virtual reality experience for kids and families.

The kit is the fourth in the Nintendo Labo series of craftable DIY add-ons to the Nintendo Switch, which launched previous year.

Strictly speaking there is just one dedicated VR kit, the Toy-Con 04 VR Kit, but it will be available in two configurations.

Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's Senior VP of Sales and marketing, said, "This new kit builds on the core tenets of Nintendo Labo - Make, Play and Discover - to introduce virtual reality in a way that's fun and approachable for both kids and kids at heart". The Nintendo Labo: VR Kit - Starter Set + Blaster and complete Nintendo Labo: VR Kit will be available in stores on 12 April. Six kits will be available: VR Goggles, Blaster, Camera, Bird, Elephant, and Wind Pedal.

"The Starter Set + Blaster kit provides an action-packed introduction to the experience", the official website continues. Along with that, users can turn off the VR functionality and use the screen holder and cap in 2D mode.

The new product is Nintendo's first move into VR in more than two decades, after the 1995 Virtual Boy flopped with consumers.

The Toy-Con Garage feature will be making a return in the VR kit, which could lead to some seriously awesome creations.

Those who purchase the Starter Set can expand the experience with two additional options.

Now, of course, since this is a Labo-based set, it does just mean that Nintendo is developing software specifically around the cardboard kit; you're not suddenly going to playing Mario Kart 8 or The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild if you pick up the cardboard kit.
