Details surrounding Anthony Barr's contract with Vikings

Barr had a change of heart overnight and has made a decision to re-sign with the Vikings, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora confirms.

Barr agreed to sign with the Jets on Monday, but he changed his mind Tuesday and will return to the Vikings, after the Jets were set to give him about $14 million to $15 million annually.

National Football League sources said Monday the 26-year-old would sign with the Jets when free agency opens Wednesday after the Vikings could not or would not meet his reported price of $14 to $15 million. There are sack incentives worth up to $12 million, a source told ESPN, confirming a report by NFL Network, which first reported the news.

Barr has been a starter with the Vikings since they drafted him ninth overall in 2014 and has been named to the Pro Bowl the past four seasons.

The 26-year-old pass rusher has made the Pro Bowl in each of the last four seasons with the Vikings. For his career, he has 13.5 sacks while averaging 68 tackles per season over five seasons.

Barr's fate had been a hot topic among the Vikings' past two offseasons as the team tried to extend all of their young players while also making a major financial commitment to new quarterback Kirk Cousins. Barr is considered one of the top linebackers in free agency.

Barr, who will turn 27 on March 18, recorded 70 tackles and a sack for the Vikings in 2018.
