Trump Goes Golfing in Florida Amid Impending Release of Mueller Report

Meanwhile, there's little indication at this point that either Barr or the White House will seek to hide the report. "The American people have a right to know everything".

The submission of Mueller's report ended a high-pressure investigation that has engulfed the Trump administration and led to criminal charges against 34 people, including six former Trump associates and advisers.

Billionaire liberal activist Tom Steyer, who has been running ads calling for Trump's impeachment, noted that many Republicans are already suggesting that Mueller's report clears Trump, even before the details are known.

Attorney General William Barr will not be providing Congress with special counsel Robert Mueller's findings on Saturday. We have yet to find out whether, but for Justice Department policy against indicting a sitting president, Trump would have been charged with obstruction or other crimes. Mueller investigated whether Trump's campaign conspired with Moscow to try to influence the election and whether the president later unlawfully tried to obstruct his investigation. Gidley declined to say whether Trump had talked about the Mueller report while golfing.

Alex Wong/Pool/Cnp/ZUMA Press/NewscomThere no need to ask if we'll see Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report about his investigation of Russian attempts to meddle in the 2016 presidential election.

Pavel Koshkin of Russia's Institute for the USA and Canada tells The Associated Press: "If Russia's interference is proven, the Kremlin might see a lot of problems".

"Well, I don't know", Nadler said. "But in reality, I think (the Kremlin) does care".

Mueller submitted his report to Barr instead of directly to Congress and the public because, unlike independent counsels such as Ken Starr in the case of President Bill Clinton, his investigation operated under the close supervision of the Justice Department, which appointed him. White House Counsel Pat Cipollone also is there, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Trump's business, including negotiations over building a Trump tower in Moscow, his charity and his inaugural committee remain under investigation.

Barr told lawmakers on Friday that he is "committed to as much transparency as possible".

Attorney General Barr must immediately provide Congress and the public with Mueller's entire report and supporting material, not just his summary findings.

Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Beto O'Rourke used on March 23 their campaign rallies to demand the release of full Mueller report.

Barr said in a Friday letter to the House and Senate Judiciary committees that he would share Mueller's "principal conclusions" with Congress as soon as Saturday.

President Trump has inflicted enormous damage on the rule of law and on our democratic norms, but to date the system - Trump calls it the "deep state", the rest of us call it constitutional government - has held.

Unnamed Justice Department officials are telling reporters Mueller has recommended no further indictments.
