Apple May Reveal New Game Subscription Service Next Week

The move comes amid deepening woes for the news sector facing a hard transition to the digital world where few people want to pay for information and advertising is problematic.

Apple has plenty of money to spend, though, with about $245 billion in cash and marketable securities.

Highlighting entertainment and financial services that run on its 1.4 billion consumer devices, rather than the devices themselves, is a momentous strategy shift led by Chief Executive Tim Cook, who succeeded the late Steve Jobs in 2011.

When is the grand Apple Showtime event?

Big questions to be answered include how compelling content will be; how much the service will cost, and what makes it unique in an increasingly crowded streaming television market, according to the analyst. Apple will reportedly roll out the news subscription service as part of the iOS 12.2 update, which is now in beta stage. Popular paid titles would be included, and the company would exclude from the service any free-to-download games that generate revenue via in-app purchases.

This could be set to a change with a completely integrated Apple video streaming service. The company has only used the Steve Jobs Theater at its new headquarters twice since it opened two years ago.

To ensure all attention will be on services, Apple took the rare step of announcing several new hardware products on its website last week, including upgraded AirPods, iPads and iMacs. So, this time, if they have cooked out a good recipe that could compete against thT- then we can expect a premium streaming video service in a short while. Apple is going to face tough competition in the online streaming market, which is dominated by established players such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu. The streaming service will reportedly be available globally, taking on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix amongst other smaller rivals.

Apple Music and Apple's App Store have already benefited from being standard features of iPhones and other gadgets made by the company.

The first rumors of this service came to light earlier this year.

While there was some speculation that Netflix might be joining Apple's service, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has finally confirmed that his company will not, in fact, be selling subscriptions through Apple's video service. A gaming subscription is on the cards well, according to a Bloomberg report.

Product news has dominated the week leading up to Monday's event, which is significant.

Apple is unveiling its media offering tomorrow in a special event, and may be somewhat disappointed to discover that the Wall Street Journal has leaked the pricing for their upcoming services.
