New Apple TV app will arrive for Samsung smart TVs first

Apple is beginning to place more emphasis on the services aspect of its business in the wake of falling iPhone sales.

Now, Winfrey has revealed that she's already hard at work on two upcoming documentaries tackling social issues for the newly announced streaming service Apple TV Plus, which is set to debut in the fall.

The app will also offer suggestions for shows and movies from over 150 streaming apps, including Amazon Prime and Hulu, as well as pay-TV services such as Canal+, Charter Spectrum, DirecTV Now, PlayStation Vue, and through Optimum and Suddenlink being added later this year. "They definitely have to do this, or something like this", Downes said. The company is pushing digital subscriptions as it searches for new growth.

The company announced this on Monday during a presentation in California.

Apple TV Plus will feature Apple's original content, including a reboot of "Amazing Stories" from Spielberg and "The Morning Show" starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Witherspoon.

It's a massive deployment of star power.

In total, there will be more than 300 magazine offerings inside Apple News+ at launch, Roger Rosner, Apple's VP of applications said during the announcement.

"Apple needs something to pop with viewers, something that really captures attention", said Brett Sappington, senior director of research at Parks Associates.

Winfrey and Spielberg have both signed up for Apple TV+.

JJ Abrams, M Night Shyamalan, Sofia Coppola, Ron Howard and Octavia Spencer also appeared in a preview video for the company's new service.

Planned to launch in the fall of 2019, no price point has been given yet.

Instead, Apple is using its might to feed off the creativity of others. Luckily, the company has about $245 billion in the bank.

More than 100 curated new and exclusive games will be on Apple Arcade. But the company has said nothing about creating programs tailored to the tastes of non-Americans or non-English speakers. Start a TV service to compete with Netflix?

But people don't just watch television.

Apple is rolling out a subscription service for mobile and desktop games, called Apple Arcade.

"It's show time" is how Apple billed the launch, leading analysts to believe it would be its first splashy event not featuring new gadgets or hardware. The current Apple TV app is accessible via your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, but now they are also introducing it on the Mac as well as Smart TVs. The service is available immediately.

Subscribers of Apple Arcade will get access to all the games in the bundle rather than having to purchase each individual game. In addition, the card will charge no fees - not even for late payments. Now Apple is getting in the subscription game, with Apple News+.

The deposits are made daily, and the reward goes up to 3 cent for purchases of Apple products and down to 1 per cent for purchases made with the physical card.Every purchase needs a fingerprint or face-identification confirmation.
