Chelsea unsure being clear to sign Higuain as Sarri wants deal

Callum Hudson-Odoi is ready for an important role at Chelsea as he makes look like a better team when he plays, former star Eidur Gudjohnsen says.

Higuain has only found the back of the net on three occasions in league out, but Sarri is confident the striker will improve and hopes he will stay beyond this season.

Chelsea's appeal against the two-window transfer ban handed down by Federation Internationale de Football Association in February is set to be heard by the governing body's Appeal Committee on April 11, while the club also reserve the right to go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if the ruling is upheld. At the moment he's in a very good mental and physical condition. We only have to fight and think about our matches.

"He's young, he's got time but he's shown that he's ready and we would love to see a talent like that on the pitch even more".

"We have only to play every match for winning".

And ex-Chelse and Barcelona striker Gudjohnsen is the latest to join in, saying Hudson-Odoi's impact on the team shows he is ready to become a first-team regular.

Higuain has struggled since arriving at Stamford Bridge in January, scoring just three goals in 11 appearances, all of which came against already relegated Huddersfield and Fulham. He has to improve physically, mentally, but I think also he will be able to be very useful for us in the last part of the season.

Maurizio Sarri believes Chelsea can afford to drop points and still secure a top-four Premier League finish.

When asked about Higuain's form, Sarri added: "I think he has to improve".

'Of course it will be hard, but I have to consider in this moment of the season we need to change, ' Sarri said at his pre-match press conference.
